May Day : deepening the circle
par Mai Hua & Jerry Hyde
An intimate, one-day experiential workshop exploring our relationship to circles, groups, and belonging - beginning with our first ever group: our family of origin and tracing how those early dynamics continue to shape our adult lives.
This workshop is strictly limited to twelve participants, creating a held and confidential space.
Together, we will watch MAY DAY a deeply emotional and spiritual film documenting a therapeutic retreat held in an ancient wild forest.
The film offers a rare and unfiltered glimpse into group process - its tenderness, resistance, beauty, and intensity - and is designed to activate something in the viewer rather than explain it.
Following the screening, the rest of the day unfolds as a shared inquiry. Working directly with the filmmakers and retreat facilitators Mai Hua and Jerry Hyde, participants are invited to explore their personal and collective responses to the film through dialogue, reflection, and circle-based practice.
Jerry is an artist and therapist with over thirty years’ experience working with individuals, groups, and retreats.
Mai is an artist and facilitator whose practice centres on listening, love, and talking circles.
This is not a workshop about watching a film, but about entering a living conversation - one that asks what it means to be in a group, to be seen, and to belong.
This space welcomes curiosity, emotional honesty, and respectful listening; no prior experience of group work is required.
The workshop May Day – Deepening the Circle is held in English.
